Hello, my dear,
thank you for stopping by and dedicate this page a little bit of your precious time. I want to tell you who I am.
My name is Maddalena but everybody calls me Maddy. I am a third year Nutrition student, studying at Endeavour College a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutritional and Dietetic Medicine).
I am Italian, born and bred, living in sunny Australia since 2012, which I am extremely proud of. My family raised me with complementary medicine since I remember and I have always been very open to different kind of ways to get in-tuned with your own body.
What brought me to study nutrition was an amazing light-bulb moment the day I proved on my body that Food is Medicine.
Has happened to many people in the natural health world, only when you hit rock bottom and go through several health challenges, then you do the work and research what is the healthiest possible way of living.
This happened many years ago and since then I lived by “food is medicine”, which was beautifully said by Hippocrates, and constantly learning, re-framing, unlearning and relearning, growing and healing.
When I don’t know if certain foods or lifestyles are good or not, I always bring it back to Nature. She knows best and always wins. I like to ask myself “what would I do 10.000 or 1000 or 300 years ago”? The answer comes pretty easy.
I am also very passionate about Ayurveda. One day I picked up an Ayurvedic book in a second-hand bookshop for $2 and it changed my life, it changed the way I viewed health and gave it a 360 twist.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is also very close to me, been doing Acu for years and live following concepts like Yin&Yang, Chinese organs clock and the energetics properties of food (same concept as Ayu!)
I was born and bred with Homeopathy and I wish one day I could study this amazing, pure, deep, holistic, true system of healing. The biggest health achievements of my life I got with Homeopathy first, then food. To me, these are the foundations to build a strong immune system and to promote longevity.
Best things to want right?
I am a Yoga lover, but I also love to kick butts at the gym doing functional training and weights. Nope cardio is not for me and yes the balance of yoga and weights is awesome for your strength and to avoid injuries.
I am also a sucker for food photography, so this blog is also to show my simple recipes and improve my food photography skills! I would spend hours lost on IG browsing shots of picnics in the middle of a field in south France YES!
I am not too sure where my nutrition course will bring me to, but the passion that I have when I talk about healthy foods, healthy living and traditional medicine it’s just too strong and I know it will lead me to amazing people, places, opportunities and experiences.
I hope you find some useful info this blog to apply in your life, perhaps replicate some of the recipes, or perhaps ponder over one of my blogs on healing, or maybe just get to know who I am a little more.
Benvenuto and feel free to get in touch <3
