Well isn’t that a great question.
Personally, it’s taking me few years, but I’d like to chat a little about this as I believe that most people expectation is utterly wrong.
Health is a full circle, like a chain, made up of all the things that surround you. It’s not only not catching the flu one winter, but it’s also the stress you experience at home, the relationship you have with your in laws, the time you go to bed, what you think when you look at yourself in the mirror and the way your poop looks.
It’s a BIG thing right? It takes a lot to manage it and for me it’s like the ultimate quest. However, I’d like to talk about Healing, and in particular our expectation on it.
See, in our day and age, you get a cold, you get a tablet and you go back to work. In 6 hours you’re ok. You get a little rash on your arm, you get a cream it goes away in a day. You don’t go to the toilet enough, you get a pill, you go very much after few minutes.
Minutes is the ratio we measure our healing in 2019. What if I told you is infact, Years?
Do you think that to heal small diseases, or deepeer emotional traumas takes a handful of activated almonds, organic hawaian spirulina, the casual yoga class and 6 months being vegan? No darling, it takes a whole lotta patience, trial and error, and time, a lot of time.
See, I am still healing from my chronic asthma. I had great results but I had relapses and it’s normal. If something affects you for years and years, do you really think that a quick fix cream or pill will fix it in a day? I know our bodies are great machines, but not that strong, and we need to feed it right.
Considering I used for years and years substances like cortison, steroids for my asthma, inhalers like it rained, and a diet made up of dairy, alcohol, refined foods, do you think my body will just say, “oh thanks for all that rubbish, now I can heal in a couple of months”! Wish we had a magic wand for that!
No, it needs to detox, to become more alkaline, to have a good healthy ground (guts) to heal itself. That’s right, Itself. As every single medication we’ve all taken it didn’t really help it, it supressed, temporarily. As we were too busy and had to go to work.
So it literally Pushed It Down.
The winter after again, we need to go to work again can’t afford to be sick. So we suppress it and push it down towards our core, our precious inner organs. Because we cant afford to be sick. We cant afford to tune in and listen to our body screaming at us “you need to wind down!” or “you need to break up with your shitty boyfriend!” or “you need to give me better foods!”.
We had to go to work, and look ok but being sick inside. Forget about ourselves. Today, we live longer yes, but how are our lives? What is the actual quality of our lives? How many old people you know that died of old age and not of diseases? We live longer and are unarguably sicker than ever before.
At least when we were chased by tigers we didn’t have eczema or asthma i promise you that!
So how long? Yes, years.
Nourish your cells, your soul, choose better healing practices, try and try and follow your intuition which is stronger than any doctor in the world, as you ultimately are your own doctor.
Ponder on this, unless your arm is about to fall off, then I would rush to emergency!
