Ok, this is going to be a short one, but I really want to share my thoughts on this.
How many times have you stepped out of a bus, without saying thank you to the driver? Maybe you have, but have you ever meant it?
I was on the bus last week, and I thought as I was approaching my destination, thank you for bringing me home, safe, again.
Have you ever realised how many times you put your own safety in other people hands, but a lot of times are not grateful enough for this?
I always took for granted that I got home ok, and safe. That this driver would not drive crazy or nothing would happen to us.
But he did his job, well, and I am now safe writing this. and I am so grateful every time I get out of the house, walking on the road, thanking people for their job, for their time, for their effort in making sure all goes the way it’s meant to go.
Should this be taken for granted? I believe no.
I believe that every person’s actions in relation to my life should be pondered and thanked.
From a stranger’s smile on the way to class to a bus ride to a meal shared with a friend, to the chai latte you are given at the coffee shop, to a little freebie given at the markets from your favourite food stall.
I realised that being thankful for the simplest circumstances around me, bring an extra level of awareness I never experienced before.
It’s like adding that little parmesan on top of your favourite pasta! It’s a good extra to your day, or to someone else’s 🙂
So maybe, next time you get off the bus, Smile to the driver and mean that “thank you”, he will know. People notice when you mean things, or when you are in Auto-Pilot. This tends to happen on Monday mornings!
Have a good day 🙂
